KARACHI: The 37th edition of Chief of the Air Staff Open Golf Championship will roll into action here at Airmen Golf Course, PAF Base Korangi Creek from February 15.
The championship is scheduled to conclude on February 18. This was announced in a press conference held here at PAF Base Korangi Creek. Squadron Leader, M. Mohsin Khan, addressed the press conference along with Wing Commander (Retd) I.N. Khokhar, Former National Player and Ex PAF champion, and Mr Syed ShahjahanSalahuddin, Advisor Airmen Golf Club.
“Chief of the Air Staff Open Golf Championship, being the flagship championship of Pakistan Air Force, is the biggest national Golf championship of Pakistan in which the winner is awarded handsome prize money,” said Mohsin Khan.
“Last year, the prize money offered was Rs 4 million, which has now been raised to Rs 8 million. Besides, two cars are also made available for exciting Hole in One opportunity for players,” he added.
In the tournament, golfers from all over the country have been invited to play the championship in professional, senior and junior professional, amateurs, ladies and Airmen Golf Club members as per selection criteria of championship committee.
Around 350 players are expected to participate in the four-day tournament, where more than 70 are professional players. The prizes in different categories will be distributed on the closing ceremony of the event by Chief of Air Staff.
Airmen Golf Club at PAF Base Korangi Creek is a very large set-up spread over 7300 yards, becoming the longest course in Pakistan.
“A lot of efforts are made in fine-tuning the course to live up to the standards of the golfers and sporting community of Karachi area,” said Mohsin Khan. “It also offers a secure location and environment under the supervision of PAF Base Korangi Creek for its valued members and golfers.”
