FAISALABAD: The Agriculture Department has started training programme for wheat growers in 2,157 villages of Faisalabad division.
The department has constituted 79 teams that will guide the farmers about application of modern wheat production technology for getting better yield by visiting at village level till December 31.
This was stated by Director Agriculture Ch Abdul Hameed in a meeting with farmers’ delegation here yesterday.
He said that training would be held in two phases during which training farmers in 809 villages in district Faisalabad, 538 villages in Toba Tek Singh, 484 in Jhang and 326 villages in district Chiniot would be trained.
The 1st phase will be completed on November 15 while 2nd phase will continue till end of December.
In first phase, growers will be trained about cultivation procedure, kind of recommended seeds of wheat, provision of seeds, per acre ratio of seed, soil preparation, use of chemical fertilizers and irrigation of crop. In second phase, they will be guide about eradication of weed from crop, irrigation, utilization of urea fertilizer etc.
All kinds of seeds are available with Punjab Seed Corporation and registered dealers.
