KARACHI: Top seeded Egyptian Yathreb Adel and her second seeded compatriot Nadine Shahin won their respective semifinal matches to confirm that USD18,000 Serena Hotels – Pakistan Open Women’s Squash Championship 2018 title will be won by an Egyptian.
Yathreb Adel faced third seeded compatriot Zeina Mickawy and dropped a set before recording a 11-8, 5-11, 11-9, 11-7 victory in 35 minutes here at DHA Asif Nawaz Squash Complex, Creek Club.
Meanwhile, Nadine Shahin zapped the only non-Egyptian semifinalist – fifth seeded Malaysian Sivasangari Subramaniam registering a straight-set 11-8, 11-7, 11-7 victory in only 20 minutes, the shortest match of the day.
In USD53,000 Golootlo – Pakistan Open Men’s Squash Championship, top seed Karim Abdel Gawad of Egypt thrashed fourth seed Nafiizwan Adnan of Malaysia by 11-8, 11-5, 11-7 – taking only 25 minutes to confirm his presence in the summit clash as expected. In the final of the lucrative event, the favorite Egyptian will face second seeded Peruvian player Diego Elias, who dispatched fifth seed Arturo Salazar of Mexico more impressively – taking a minute lesser than Gawad to record straight-set 11-9, 11-4, 11-1 victory in 24 minutes.
