KARACHI: Six people have been injured in a blast in Gulistan-e-Johar area of Karachi yesterday night.

The injured have been rushed to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medical treatment. Two of the injured are in critical condition.

The blast took place near Perfume Chowk, where Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) had organised Mehfil-e-Milad.

MQM-P leader Faisal Sabzwari claimed that MQM-P Convener Khalid Maqbool and Khawaja Izhar ul Hassan narrowly escaped from the blast. He said several of his party workers were injured.

Police and other law enforcers have cordoned off the area. Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and Governor Imran Ismail have taken notice of the incident.

The CM has directed the Karachi commissioner and the additional inspector general Sindh police to immediately submit him report on the incident.

Sources said it could be a planted bomb. He said a cracker bomb-type was hurled in a box, which resulted in injury of six people.
