KARACHI: Pakistan Test cricketer Asad Shafiq admits that he has so far under-achieved during his career and had not been able to be at par with his true potential but now he wants to move ahead and change that.
Asad Shafiq said that there had been several factors that had kept him from performing at his true potential including not been able to play at home ground and he had also been playing down the order at No. 6, where it is difficult to be able to improve conversion rate of fifties into centuries.
Then there were few of my own mistakes and also that I had been playing down the order at No. 6 where it is difficult to score big,” he explained.
He said that when playing at No 6, the partners at the other side of the crease, are normally tail-enders and it is difficult to score big down the order and converting fifties into centuries is a tough ask.
“Now I have been getting enough chance to play at No 4 and No 5 and hopefully I will now be improving my conversion rate and subsequently my batting average, which will help the team and also help me in improving my career.”
