Gwadar: An emergent meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Gwadar Capt. (retd) Muhammad Waseem was held. The meeting was attended by personnel of Coast Guards, MSA, Pak Navy, Pak Army, Fisheries Dept officials and representatives of Fishermen’s bodies.
The meeting decided that fishermen can do fishing within five nautical miles of the shore but they should follow all the SOPs in strict sense of the word in the wake of Corona pandemic and avoid going into deep waters and follow all the rules and regulations laid down for them in the wake of corona virus pandemic.
It was told that the fishermen of Tehsil Gawadar, Tehsil Pasni, and Ormara can obtain tokens for 12 hours fishing and can fish at night or day time for as many hours,
The MSA will issue token to fishermen from Gawadar Jetty while fishermen of Doria ward, Guzarwan and Baloch Ward will get tokens from Coast Guards and Fisheries Dept. Similarly, fishermen of Padri Zarpushgan and Ganz will obtain tokens from Coast Guards while Sarbandan, Pasni and Ormara fishermen will be issued tokens by the MSA.
The fishermen of respective areas were told their respective points for fishing to which they should confine and not cross the limits.
The fishermen have been advised to avoid going close to foreign boats and should immediately inform the district management if they see any suspicious boats in the waters or any other suspicious activity.
They are also told to not go close to Iranian waters for safety reasons.
They were also asked to follow the safety measures and guidelines like they should wash their hands with soap from time to time, avoid shaking hands, not to stand closely together at the fish landing platform and wear masks and wrapping clothes while fishing.
Moreover, the fishermen will have to wait for their turns at the floating GT platform to anchor their boats. They have also been restricted to travel in limited number like the number of people wo can travel together should not be more than to four to a small boat and seven to a big boat.
They were also told to identify Iranian boats for their safety and report to the managements.
