Walk-through Corona testing and screening facility set up at Kakri ground: Malik Fayyaz Awan

KARACHI: DMC South Chairman Malik Fayyaz Awan has said that the sudden spike in corona patients in Lyari and other areas of Saddar zone in recent days is alarming.

In a statement, he termed the increase as terrifying situation and said that in this backdrop, if the people did not pay heed to safety guidelines and precautionary measures aimed at social distancing, then it can result in disastrous situation which may be out of control and the none-serious attitude of the masses will be responsible for it.

“It is really worrisome to see that despite all- out efforts and all possible measures aimed at prevention of the spread of Covic-19, the virus is spreading at alarming level in some areas like Lyari etc which is terrifying.

He said that the DMC South administration is taking serious note of the situation and has intensified special drive to conduct disinfectant sprays in the danger zones of Saddar Town to prevent the disease from spreading.

He said that DMC South administration in collaboration with District Administration has established a Walk- Through Corona Testing and Screening facility has been established at Kakri ground, Lyari, to facilitate the masses of the area. At this centre, a rapid testing is being randomly conducted of the individuals.

Meanwhile, on the directives of Malik Fayyaz Awan special teams are conducting fumigation and disinfectant sprays at home of affected persons, lanes and hotbed areas of Saddar Town. In this connection,  sprays were carried out with the help of Sindh Solid Waste Management in U-9  Behar Colony, Tannery Road, Alfalah Road, Masjid Road and Pangori Road, UC-8 Layri and adjoining areas through tankers.

“Rather people seem to be not taking seriously the disease which is an irresponsible behavior from the masses”, he added.

Malik Fayyaz Awan advised the people to confine themselves to their homes, keep social distancing and don’t come out unless there is urgency.
