Liverpool FC fans rage over Man City tweet

LONDON: Liverpool fans were not happy with how Manchester City responded to the anniversary of Steven Gerrard’s infamous slip vs Chelsea. Manchester City couldn’t resist marking the six year anniversary of Steven Gerrard’s famous slip for Liverpool that tipped the 2013/14 Premier League title race in their favour, with one simple tweet.

With Liverpool looking to be closing in on their first Premier League title, Steven Gerrard lost his footing to allow Demba Ba to score and set Chelsea on their way to a crucial win at Anfield. The result allowed City to go to Crystal Palace later in the day and close the gap at the top to three points with a game in hand, and they would go on to nick the title. Who knew that one emoji could invoke such anger? The replies to City’s tweet were filled with angry Liverpool fans – as well as a few smug City supporters. —Agencies
