KARACHI: Basir Hasan, the father of Pakistani pop stars Nazia and Zoheb Hassan, breathed his last on Friday night in Karachi. He was 86. Zoheb took to social media and confirmed the death.
In a tweet, Zoheb wrote: “Goodbye my hero, my friend and the wind beneath my wings. Farewell until we all meet again.”
Basir Hassan was a Karachi-based businessman. He was married to Muneeza Hassan, a social activist.
Zoheb is currently in London. He has got return ticket to Pakistan through the efforts of PTI leader Dr Imran Ali Shah, and he is due here on Tuesday, Dr Imran informed this scribe.
After Zoheb’s arrival, the burial of his father will take place in Gizri Graveyard.
Nazia Hassan, who ruled over the hearts of millions of fans, died back August 2000.
PTI leader and prominent orthopedic surgeon Dr Imran Ali Shah and his wife Shazia Imran and Basir’s cousin Asif Hassan were present during the last moments of Basir Hasan.
He breathed his last in the arms of close aide Ayaz Shani.
Dr Imran is also active in arranging the final rites of Basir Hasan. “I also performed the ‘Ghusl’ of deceased Basir Hassan and his body has been placed at mortuary as we are waiting for return of Zoheb Hasan from London, Dr Imram informed Daily National.
Basir Hasan has left behind a widow Muneeza Basir, who is a prominent social activist and son Zohaib Hasan and a daughter.
